Typical responsibilities for the Secretary would include:
a. Prepares, distributes, and maintains minutes of the meetings (5 ILCS 120/2.06)
b. Reviews, distributes, and answers district correspondence, as directed by the board.
c. Maintains district official records and acts as the official "custodian" of those records.
d. Serves as the district's "Local Election Official" under the Election Code (10 ILCS 5/1-3).
e. Is responsible for timely response to appropriate requests under the "Freedom of Information Act" (unless a separte "Freedom of Information Officer" is appointed by the Board.
